Actor-costume designer Simple Kapadia passed away at a local hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. Younger sister of actor Dimple Kapadia,Simple had been battling cancer for three years. She was 50.Family friends said Simple suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken by her elder sister Dimple to the hospital. She passed away in the afternoon.
Simple had been living with her sister for the last three years. Sources close to the family said Dimple even refused to take up work for three years to take care of her ailing sister.
Born on August 15, 1958, Simple started her career as an actor with her (then) brother-in-law, Rajesh Khanna, in the film Anurodh in 1976. The audiences rejected the film but she continued acting in about 20 more films like Lootmaar, Pyaar Ke Do Pal, Jeevan Dhara, Shaaka and Rehguzar. She quit acting in 1986.
After a gap of nearly 10 years, Simple returned to Bollywood as a dress designer for Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia. She even won the National Award for costume design for the film Rudaali.
